Walking around Kiev

Yesterday our translator took us to Independence Square, which is about three blocks from our apartment. There you can find Restaurants, stores and kiosks selling all kinds of things. She took us to a bakery to get some bread and ham and some hot dogs. Then Fernando got really happy when he found out that one of the Kiosks sells Pepsi products (which are very hard to find and remember he works for Pepsico). Then we came back to the apartment and went to bed early because we were really tired.

But this morning, with our camera at hand, we ventured to the same places we had been to with Nina. Here are some pictures of our first unguided tour of Kiev.

Independence Square

The Clock Tower showing a temperature of -3°C around lunchtime, meaning it was the highest of the day!

One of the streets at one side of the Square, a lady took this picture of both us, we communicated with sign language.

Outside the bakery where we were able to get some more bread and then also exchange some more dollars into Ukrainian money (I can't spell it yet)

And Fernando was able to buy more Pepsi!

On our way back to the apartment

In front of the O'Briens Irish Pub, where Masha asked us to meet. Although Fernando claimed it was useless, learning to read Russian has turned out to be very useful

  1. It is so fun to see pictures of Independence Square. I see the big tree is still up. I wondered if they would take it right back down after New Years. Thanks for giving us on RR your blog link. I am looking forward to following your adoption. We might be back in Kiev in early February.
